My Bio
First of all, thanks for visiting my page. My name is John and I hope you like my work.

My love of art began at school but it took a back seat as I left and pursued other interests. It was reignited in 2015 when I was challenged to draw a friend's dog from a photo. Since then I haven't put my pencils down!

I strive to achieve photo-realism in my portraits, and capture so much more than an image, but the personality and character of your beloved companion as well.

My Medium:

My favourite mediums include graphite and coloured pencils. I love the depth, definition and realism that can be achieved with a sharp set of pencils!

My preferred 'tools for the job' are Faber Castell Polychromos pencils for coloured portraits, and Faber Castell PITT 9000 pencils for graphite. I'm currently experimenting with surfaces, but I have found most success using Strathmore 300 Series Bristol Vellum, and Clairefontaine PastelMat.

In addition to those items, I also use a few other bits and pieces, mainly from Caran d'Ache and Prisma.

My Inspiration:

In my spare time, you can often find me in the mountains of England and Wales. They hold a very special place in my heart and I have never not been able to find my inner peace there!

Sitting solitude, on the summit of a rocky peak and exposed to the elements, has always allowed me to reset and refocus my mind. I can then apply this renewed vigour to all aspects of my life, and especially drawing.

What a fantastic gallery!
Thank you so much 😊

Welcome to the DA community.  There are an abundance of things to enjoy and love about this site, the greatest being that there are so many here willing to assist you in becoming a force in the Deviantart community.  Visit a gazillion galleries, leave copious comments (Of the kind that build others up and critiques that are constructive.) join Groups of like-minded artists, explore the "more' link in the task bar to gain further insight into what the community has to offer, use the search bar to find everything from other artists, to tutorials for your own growth, make friends, grow artistically, post often, (Advice I myself have failed to follow, I think I've fainted. ) but most of all have fun. CURSE YOU!
